A small boutique hideaway in Paradise Valley with lush gardens throughout the grounds was just named one of the best hotels in Arizona.
Travel + Leisure readers rated the Hermosa Inn as the best Arizona hotel in the publication’s 2023 World’s Best Awards. The Hermosa Inn also ranked among the 500 best hotels worldwide in the publication’s 2023 T+L 500 list.
Built in the 1930s as a private one-bedroom studio for cowboy artist Lon Megargee, whose artwork hangs on the hotel walls and who is the namesake of the resort’s Lon’s Last Drop Bar, the Hermosa Inn topped the survey of best Arizona hotels after ranking No. 2 last year. It traded places with Castle Hot Springs, the No. 1 hotel in 2021 and 2022.

How were the Travel + Leisure 2023 World’s Best hotels chosen?

Travel + Leisure, America’s largest travel media brand, selected the hotels based on feedback from nearly 165,000 readers. Readers were surveyed about their travel experiences around the world, including hotels, cities, islands, airlines, cruise ships and other experiences.
Readers rated hotels based on their rooms and facilities, location, service, on-site food and overall value for the experience. They scored each category on a scale from “excellent” to “poor.”

What did Travel + Leisure readers like about the best hotels in Arizona?
The Hermosa Inn was prized for its ambiance, charm, history and amenities that include in-room fireplaces, bicycle rentals and a self-guided art walk.
Travel + Leisure readers also valued properties with wellness features. Castle Hot Springs is beloved for its mineral-rich hot springs. It’s also offering customizable yoga and wellness retreats for its 2023-24 season.
Two Sedona resorts made the T+L list, most notably the first appearance of Enchantment Resort in the publication’s World’s Best ranking. Readers were impressed with its location in Boynton Canyon, one of Sedona’s most scenic box canyons, and its night-sky viewing opportunities.
Enchantment Resort’s spa resort within the hotel, Mii amo, reopened in February after a two-year renovation. Travel + Leisure previously named Mii amo one of the world’s 100 best new hotels for 2023.
