    NEED TO KNOW

    • Sabrina Carpenter shares her love of food and travel while touring across major cities
    • The singer says she connects with each stop by tasting local cuisine despite her busy schedule
    • Carpenter calls her summer trip to Italy “magical” and loves mixing comfort, culture and carbs when traveling

Sabrina Carpenter is eating her way across the map, and loving every bite.

During an interview with Travel + Leisure, published on Thursday, Oct. 15, the Grammy-winning “Espresso” singer, 26, spoke about tasting her way through the city stops on her Short n’ Sweet tour, which wraps this fall after shows in Pittsburgh, New York City, Nashville, Toronto and six nights in Los Angeles.

Currently in New York City, preparing to host and perform on Saturday Night Live, Carpenter admitted that her on-the-go lifestyle doesn’t always leave much room for downtime. “I travel a ton on tour, but I am really bad at taking vacation,” the star told the outlet.

Still, the pop star makes an effort to connect with every stop she hits — even if it’s just through a meal. “I don’t get to spend a ton of time in a city, so I like to get a taste of the local cuisine,” she said.

When she does slow down, Carpenter’s favorite kind of getaway involves plenty of carbs and culture. After spending time in Italy this summer, she fell hard for the country’s charm — and the pasta. “It really doesn’t get better than that,” she said, calling the experience “magical” thanks to “the culture, the people, the fashion.”

Offstage, the Pennsylvania native loves a mix of comfort and immersion when she travels. “I love to have a great space that my friends and I can unwind in that feels private, and also allows us to experience the culture and the food of the destination,” said Carpenter.

The star’s wanderlust runs deep and started early. “Family trips growing up were so much fun,” she recalled. “I’m super close with my family and my sisters, so getting to spend time together was the best.”

Those childhood road trips were full of laughter, snacks, and sing-alongs. “Sometimes we would just yap the entire time,” she stated, “and others we like to just put in headphones and listen to music.”

These days, the artist keeps her travel routine simple: sleep through flights when she can, and always capture the memories once she lands. “

My sister Sarah always has her camera out so we can really capture the memories,” Carpenter said,  because even when she’s on the move, she never forgets to savor the moment.
